Dear Members

We are very excited to announce that the Vodacom Origins of Golf Final will take place from the 27th to the 30th of October 2022 at Pinnacle Point Estate, proceeding with the Pro-Am on the 24th – 26th of October 2022. There is a dedicated public area that will remain open to our Homeowners and Members for the duration of the event. There are some night functions where the restaurant and facilities have been booked out due to the large number of delegates which will be hosted during the course of the week.

The big question is – will there be an opportunity to watch golf? Yes, you can! The first opportunity will be on the Monday (24th) practice round where you will be able to drive your cart or walk with the Pros and Amateurs. Thereafter we would suggest that from Thursday to Sunday, you walk/cart with your selected Pros and watch them in action on the Sunshine Tour. If you are a business owner and see this as a good opportunity to spoil clients or just want to treat the family/friends in the comfort of the Upper Bar and Lounge – there are hospitality packages which could be of interest (detailed below). Saturday and Sunday, SuperSport 1 will be broadcasting live from our spectacular Estate so don’t forget to tune in and watch the exciting tournament.

You are also welcome to go to the Driving Range and watch the Pros hitting balls on the range. We also have the Play it like the Pros – enjoy playing the course in the same pristine condition after the tournament. If you haven’t entered, please do so with Marchelle golfbookings@pinnaclepointestate.co.za Further information is available on the Sunshine Tour website.

Scariest shots in golf

Overcoming hazards

Hitting a successful approach shot is tough enough when there’s smooth fairway surrounding the green. Add water to the mix and “tough” can easily morph into “scary”.
Swing technique and good ball striking go without saying, but there’s also a mental element to hitting over water hazards. It’s better to tell yourself where you want the ball to go (“onto the green”) than to tell yourself where you don’t want it to go (“into the water”). This kind of positive reinforcement helps you reduce tension and make a more natural swing.
Whether it’s a shot over the water, or from a deep bunker or on a tight fairway, the best way to overcome scary shots is to be prepared. We’re here to help you prepare with an improvement programme that’s based on your swing and game.

Take on the shot

Let’s spend some time together and arm you with the skills you need to turn fear into fun.
