Elevating Aesthetics

During the past couple of weeks, we have worked on the definition of our tee boxes. A collar cut was introduced, which added a defining line between the shortly mown teeing area and the tee surrounds.

We are really pleased with the way that the grass has grown and settled on our new tee boxes. The new and level grass surfaces have matured well during the warmer spring months and are aesthetically pleasing. We have also started treating kikuyu encroachment on some of them and will keep them free of unwanted kikuyu grass going forward.

Golfing regards,
Konrad

Dear Ladies,

This past Tuesday’s Ladies’ Competition was a true test of skill and perseverance, as it was played in an IPS format under particularly challenging windy conditions. Despite the gusts, the golf course remained in fantastic shape, providing the perfect backdrop for an exciting day of golf.

A heartfelt congratulations to our winners:
Marina Juta – 33 points (counted in)
Irina Jansson – 33 points (counted out)

Special mention for Nearest to the Pin (Hole 17) Paula Bester

Well done to all the Ladies who braved the elements to participate. Your enthusiasm and sportsmanship continue to make our competitions a joy to host.

Looking forward to seeing you all on the course again soon!

Kind regards,
Christe-Mari

Pinnacle Point Club Competition Recap – November 27, 2024

The final Wednesday golf club competition of 2024 at Pinnacle Point was an Individual Stableford format, held in light rain with strong winds. Despite the challenging weather, 17 players participated, showcasing resilience and determination. A special thank you to Ford Mossel Bay, the sponsor of the day, for their generous support, which added to the festive spirit of the event.

Top Performers of the Day:
Petrie Cronje – 37 Points
Deon De Villiers – 36 Points (c/In)
Shaun Twigge – 36 Points (c/Out)
Jerome Jacobs – 34 Points
Glen Taute – 30 Points

Congratulations to Petrie Cronje, who claimed victory with an impressive 37 points. The tie for second place was resolved using the count-in/out rules, with Deon De Villiers edging out Shaun Twigge.

For members unfamiliar with the count-in/out rules: if two players achieve the same score, the following rules are applied to break the tie: (1) Compare the total score of the last nine holes; the higher score determines the count-in. (2) If still tied, compare the last six holes. (3) If still tied, compare the last three holes, then the last hole, and finally, the score on stroke 1.

  • Most Challenging Hole: Hole 1 ranked as the toughest of the day, with players averaging 5.47 strokes, demanding precision from the tee to the green.

Change your numbers START OFF RIGHT

Doctors urge you to improve your numbers (blood pressure, LDL, blood sugar, etc). More than improving performance, they improve your enjoyment of life.

It’s the same with golf. Improving four simple numbers will lower your handicap. More importantly, they’ll improve your enjoyment of golf and reduce frustration.
The first is: how many times do you find the fairway from the tee? Hitting your second shot from the short grass is far more enjoyable.

Statistics show that a 12 – 15 handicap golfer will hit 8 fairways out of 14. That drops to 6 fairways as you get closer to a 20 handicap.

Amongst the ways to improve the number of fairways you find are:

1. If you fade or slice the ball, set up on the right side of the tee box and aim for the left-hand side of the fairway. If you hook or draw the ball, set up on the left and aim toward the right side.
2.
Using a shorter, easier-to-control metalwood will improve accuracy.
3. Work on your face angle at impact and your swing path, and the relationship between those two factors.
4. Make sure you have a driver setup that works with your swing.

Want to hit more fairways?

If improving your performance off the tee will change your golf experience, then invest some time in improvement. We’d recommend you start with a professional assessment that offers you a solution and support. If we can help,

Which golfer doesn’t want superior feel, along with better distance, forgiveness, and control? That is now possible in every new Srixon ZXi Iron model.

In another breakthrough innovation, Srixon can now produce iron faces with softer steels.

Softer Materials, Softer Feel

Softer steel enhances feel. But without enough strength, performance and durability suffer. That challenge is solved by adding strength precisely where it is needed using a new method: Condensed Forging.
