Dear Members,

This week, we proudly support Team Potgieter as Aldrich competes in Africa’s Major at the Nedbank Golf Challenge, hosted at the iconic Gary Player Country Club in Sun City.

I’m thrilled to share that our Pinnacle Golf Course holds its own among tournament-ready courses. From seamless operations to meticulous attention to detail, our course could host a tournament even on a regular day.

A special mention goes to our course superintendent, Konrad Suhr, whose invaluable experience with preparing for seven Nedbank Golf Challenges has been instrumental in driving our course to this exceptional standard.

Let’s rally behind Team Potgieter and celebrate a fantastic weekend ahead.

Warm regards,
Quintin.

Change your numbers

RECOVERY IS UNDERRATED

Previously we asked you to track how many times your tee shots find the fairway. We want you to play more 2nd shots from the short grass.
Having found the fairway, even the best miss greens. What the best do, is make sure they minimise the impact of the miss and have the short game to make regular saves.
It’s the same with golf. Improving four simple numbers will lower your handicap. More importantly, they’ll improve your enjoyment of golf and reduce frustration.
The first is: how many times do you find the fairway from the tee? Hitting your second shot from the short grass is far more enjoyable.

From any position off the green, inside 50 metres, how many shots are you likely to take? Keep an average per round.

Quick Suggestions:

1. Plan your approach shots so that you don’t miss on the short side. Try to ensure that if you miss, it’s an easier short-game save.
2. Be careful with how much risk you’re taking when trying to make a save. Don’t turn a worst-case bogey into a double.

Questions for you:

1. Are you aware of the difference in setup between a full approach shot, a short-pitch and chip shot?
2. Are you able to control the low point of your swing with the short-pitch shot? Do you have any practice drills to improve that?
3. Are you playing with a hit and miss approach from greenside bunkers? Have you ever had a lesson and learned the correct technique?
