Dear Members,
Thank you for taking the time to read last week’s newsletter and for familiarising yourselves with our 2025 golf calendar.
As you’ve probably noticed, it’s going to be a busy and exciting year ahead, with our two new club captains bringing in a host of fantastic events.
I’d like to take a moment to highlight a few key events coming up:
1. The Pinnacle Cup – 15th February
This is one of our flagship events, and I encourage everyone to enter as soon as possible. You can do so at the check-in desk or by calling the club directly to secure your spot.

2. Business League – Kicking Off in the Second Week of February
This popular series is always a great opportunity to enjoy competitive yet social golf. Below, you’ll find the official invitation with all the details you need. Don’t miss out!

3. Weekly Club Competitions – Starting in the First Week of February
Our regular Wednesday club competitions will resume soon, and we’ve had plenty of inquiries about the start date. Mark your calendars and get ready to join us for another season of friendly rivalry and great camaraderie.
Once again, the 2025 golf calendar is attached here—be sure to open it, print it, and stick it on your fridge so you never miss an important date.
Saturday Competitions – A fresh opportunity to test your skills over the weekend.
Sunday Mixed Pairs – A fun and inclusive format that promises great participation and enjoyment.
I’m looking forward to working closely with Iain, Naas and Gesi to make these events a success.
Have a fantastic week ahead, and I look forward to seeing you all on the course.
Best regards,
Quintin

Thank you for entrusting me to serve as your Club Captain for the 2025 season. I am truly honoured to take on this role and am committed to making this a fantastic year of golf for all of us.
Throughout the season, I’ll be using this newsletter to delve into some of the more complex rules of the game – rules that can have a significant impact on both our friendships and our enjoyment on the course.
To kick things off, I’d like to address one of the most debated rules at our Club: the No-Play Zone, previously known as the Environmentally Sensitive Area or, in some cases, simply a hazard. Understanding this rule is crucial for both maintaining the integrity of the game and preserving our course.
Below, you’ll find the full rule as outlined in our local rules. I encourage you to read it carefully and ensure you fully understand its implications. The two key aspects to focus on are:
1. Defining and Identifying the No-Play Zone: Knowing exactly where these areas are and how they are marked is essential to avoid unnecessary penalties.
2. The Weight of the Ball: A new aspect introduced to assist in determining whether a ball is in or out of these zones, particularly when it comes to areas such as cart paths and new trenches.
To give you more clarity, please watch the informative video put together by our Golf Director, Quintin Byleveldt, and our Pro Shop Manager, Franco Groenewald. It offers valuable insights and practical examples to help you navigate this rule confidently.
I hope you all have a fantastic week, and I look forward to exploring another important rule in next week’s newsletter.
Best regards,
Naas Grobler
