Business League Tees Off Shortly

Dear Members,

Following the tremendous success of last year’s Business League, we are excited to invite you to participate in the 2025 Business League at Pinnacle Point Golf Club.

First and foremost, we would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to George Country Resort, the well-deserved winners of the 2025 season. Their outstanding performance was truly commendable.

Building on last year’s achievements, we are pleased to announce that the new point system implemented in the previous season has proven to be highly effective. As such, we will continue using the same system for the 2025 season. Additionally, we will once again strive to alternate the tournament formats to ensure an engaging and diverse competition. Our planned format schedule includes:

  • 4-Ball Alliance – approximately 4 events
  • Better Ball Split Format – approximately 3 events
  • Individual Point Stableford (IPS) with a Mystery Alliance – approximately 3 events

This brings us to a total of 10 planned events, and we sincerely hope you will commit to participating in all of them.

The primary objective of the Business League is to offer players the opportunity to compete while also providing a valuable platform for businesses to market their services and interact with other clients. Whether entering as an individual or as part of a business team, this event offers a unique networking and promotional opportunity. Each team that enters as a business can advertise at no cost on a hole with preplanned approval.

In light of the current economic climate, we are pleased to inform you that the registration fee for 2025 will remain unchanged to support our teams and encourage greater participation. The fees are as follows:

Registration Fee: R3800
Member Guest Fee (for non-regular Business League players): R605pp

We kindly ask for your support in promoting this event, and we look forward to welcoming you to the 2025 Business League. Your participation will undoubtedly contribute to another successful and enjoyable season.

Should you have any questions or require further details, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We look forward to welcoming you to our exclusive, member-focused events.

Dear Members,

I hope this message finds you well. As part of our ongoing efforts to address common questions and concerns, I’d like to touch on an important topic this week: repairing pitch marks.

We all know the significant impact that hole 7 experiences due to the high approach of tee shots landing on the green. This results in larger pitch marks that take longer to recover if not repaired correctly. Properly fixing your pitch mark is essential to maintaining the quality of our greens and ensuring a smooth playing experience for everyone.

To help demonstrate the correct technique, Konrad and Quintin have put together a short video for us below in Konrad’s section. I encourage you all to take a few minutes to watch it and review the accompanying image, which illustrates the proper way to repair a pitch mark.

Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated, and together we can keep our course in top condition.

Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to catching up in next week’s frequently asked questions.

Naas Grobler
Club Captain

Additionally, our new vice-captain, Iain Pepper, has introduced two exciting new events:

Saturday Competitions – A fresh opportunity to test your skills over the weekend.
Sunday Mixed Pairs – A fun and inclusive format that promises great participation and enjoyment.

I’m looking forward to working closely with Iain, Naas and Gesi to make these events a success.

I encourage everyone to keep an eye out for our club captain, Naas Grobler’s upcoming insights on the rules of golf – his updates are sure to be both informative and engaging. Lastly, I’d like to extend my congratulations to our Ladies section on their impressive victory at the inaugural Pinnacle vs. Oubaai (OuPinn) event this past week. Well done!

Have a fantastic week ahead, and I look forward to seeing you all on the course.

Best regards,
Quintin

Repairing Pitch Marks

Repairing a pitch mark incorrectly can do more harm than if you had just neglected it, so it is important to know how exactly it should be done. Please do your part to keep our award-winning course in pristine condition. The video below shows you exactly how.

Dear Members,

I hope you’re all doing well. My focus this week is on an exciting event – our first Captain’s Saturday Monthly Medalof the year, taking place on Saturday, 8 February, 2025.

I would like to ask for strong support from all our members to make this competition a great success. Don’t forget, our prize fund for all 3 Saturday & 1 Sunday mixed Captains Competitions is worth R3000 – a huge thank you to Golf Cart Express for sponsoring this first event and making this an event you won’t want to miss!

We are planning to run a 1-tee start; this is only due to many Visitor players from the international market playing our beautiful course this time of the year. Also, keep in mind that this will be the monthly medal competition. There will be Men’s & Ladies divisions both with Gross & Nett, so everyone has a chance to compete and win.

For all these Captains Saturday & Sunday Mixed Competitions there will be a maximum of 2 visitors allowed per 4 Ball. Please see the competition details in the below poster.

We would like to invite you all. So, a big please, join us!

I hope you all have a fantastic week, and I look forward to updating you in the next newsletter.

Best regards,
Iain Pepper
Vice-Captain
