Dear Ladies,

We played our monthly OuPinn competition at Oubaai on the 20th of March, and our team truly excelled with a fantastic 21 – 3 win – well done, Ladies!

We also kicked off a busy league season, with Silver Team 2 playing away against Mossel Bay. They fought hard and halved their game – great effort!

On Tuesday, 12 Ladies participated in our IPS competition. Here are the results:

1st place: Suzette – 34 points
2nd place: Cheryl – 33 points
3rd place: Marina – 32 points (c/in)

Nearest to the Pin (9th hole): Gesi

A big thank you to all the Ladies who continue to support our section each week.

See you on the golf course and have a great week!

Happy Golfing!
Gesi Graham

Rising equipment costs

The rising cost of golf course maintenance equipment has become a significant challenge. The specialized nature of the equipment needed to maintain quality playing surfaces means that only a handful of manufacturers produce it, which limits options and drives prices up.

Over the past five years, these costs have risen considerably and unfortunately, show little sign of slowing down. When comparing the prices of some of the equipment we rely on to maintain the course to the cost of the new vehicles I have chosen below, it’s striking to realize that purchasing most of these cars could still leave you with some money to spare – if you chose the vehicle over the equipment.

Best regards,
Konrad Suhr
Golf Course Superintendent

Dear Ladies,

It’s been a quiet week at Pinnacle, with many of our Members taking part in the Oubaai Ladies Open Day on Tuesday. Although I missed it, I’ve heard it was a truly wonderful event and a great time for all involved.

Looking ahead to next week, we’ve got an exciting and full schedule with games against Mossel Bay and Oubaai at Pinnacle Point, as well as the Business League on Wednesday. Let’s embrace the competitions ahead with enthusiasm and teamwork!

Wishing you all a weekend full of relaxation and inspiration – ready to come back stronger next week.

Ladies Captain

Dear Members,

I want to take a moment to thank everyone for the positive increase in participation in last week’s Wednesday competition. It’s fantastic to see more players getting involved, and I’d like to encourage you to continue supporting these events. If possible, please invite friends outside of your usual four-ball to help us grow the numbers and show appreciation to our sponsors who generously support our Wednesday competitions.

Unfortunately, I won’t be able to participate in this weekend’s Captain’s Saturday competition. However, I’d like to wish my fellow captains, Naas Grobler and Gesi Graham, the best of luck in hosting what I’m sure will be a fantastic event. The shotgun start will take place at 10:10, with boerie rolls served after the last 4-ball has returned to the clubhouse, just before the prize giving. The final draw and tee sheet will be shared shortly.

A big thank you as well to everyone for taking better care of their scorecards and ensuring scores are submitted on time. If you happen to notice any changes to your HNA, please be assured that Thys Lourens and I are conducting a thorough review of handicaps. Our goal is to ensure that all scores from both Wednesday and Saturday competitions are entered correctly and fairly.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend. See you on the course!

Thank you,
Iain Pepper
Vice-Captain

Dear Members,

To maintain the pristine condition of our course, we will be conducting hollow-tining from 17 to 21 March 2025. This process will help relieve soil compaction, improve water and nutrient penetration, reduce excess thatch, promote deeper root growth, and enhance airflow in the soil. We’ll be performing this core aeration during optimal soil temperatures for active growth.

Please note that both the course and Pro Shop will be closed during this time. The following courses will be available to play during hollow-tining at fantastic reciprocity rates:

  • Plett Country Club: R370pp golf only, cart R420. For bookings, please contact their Pro Shop directly on 044 533 2132. golf@plettcountryclub.co.za, info@plettcountryclub.co.za
  • George Golf Club: R250pp golf only, cart R380. For bookings, please contact their Pro Shop directly on 044 873 6116
  • Goose Valley Golf Club: R370pp golf only, cart R230. For bookings, please contact their Pro Shop directly on 044 533 5082
